AboutLabyrinth Expertise I can answer all questions regarding natural spirituality and being a pagan. Being Wicca, Golden Dawn, Shamanist, whatever...is like saying you're Lutheran or Baptist. They are all forms of paganism and all based on natural spirituality. I am Romani (gypsy) and part Lakota (American Indian) and I was raised in natural spiritualism. I am a life path counselor for my group, a ritualist, and a spell weaver. Most of my work consists of guiding people on how to find spiritual peace in a very chaotic material world. Ask me anything.
Experience Romani and Lakota by blood and raised in the old traditions.

First of all I apologize for my bad english, it is not my mother tongue :)
Now to my story:
Couple of years ago I had a strange encounter with a wolf and since then my life hasn't been the same.
It all started on a snowy November night.
It was around 23.00 and I was sitting in the livingroom watching TV when suddenly I got this unexplainable urge to go for a walk. Before i even could dismiss such an idea (due to the cold weather and time of day) I found myself putting on clothes and exiting the house.
At that time I was a student and shared a house that layed on the outscirts of the small town, thus the woods were pretty close.
After a couple of minutes walking on the illuminated path I suddenly diverted and found myself walking deeper and deeper into the woods.
Now I must mention that I wasn't feeling like I was in a trance or somenthing it just felt natural for me to do all these things.
Stumbling through the knee deep snow I stopped after a short while only to find out (and this is pretty embarassing) that i was aroused, I also had a strange feeling that somebody/something was watching me but I felt no fear what so ever, only arousement. Embarrassed I quickly returned home and didn't think much about this.
Couple of days later at about 2 o'clock in the morning I was walking home from a party when I saw, what I thought at first to be a dog, sitting under a street lamp.
This was the same path I talked about earlier. Naturally I started looking for his owner but I couldnt see anyone nearby.
As i was moving closer I hoped the "dog" wouldnt attack me or something so I tried to feel confident and "strong" as i approached him.
When I got as close as 2 yards to my amazement I recognized that the creature that stood there was a wolf. I stopped for couple of seconds just to make sure that I wasnt hallucinateing while the wolf stared at me without moving a inch. We looked at eachother for 30 sec or so and then the wolf slowly raised up (from sitting position), turned around and vanished into the darkness of nearby trees.
My natural instinct told me to run home before he gets his friends which I did.
Now, what bothers me is why the hell would a wolf, commonly known as a very shy animal, sit under a street lamp! I checked the next day for any storys about escaped wolves but there were none, and there are no zoo's in that town either.
Wolfs have been extinct from that area for the last 100 years.
It wasnt untill now I linked the two above mentioned storys together and I would like someone with more knowledge to try to interpret them to me.
I mentioned above that my life changed since then, and just to shortly summerize how: I started to see at this world/people with nothing but content and I strive to find the truth behind this existance, I feel so misplaced and frankly miserable in this society.
I hope you can give me some advice or answer if this encounter has anything to do with it (as a sign etc.)
Thank you in advance!
Sincerely yours
S.A.
Answer The wolf is the most common spirit animal. As a symbol it is encouraging you to explore nature and spirituality and maybe even to explore options for changing your life.
If it was a spirit encounter, which seems the most likely, enjoy it and follow your instincts. meditaion is the best way to do this. If its not to cold, maybe do it in the woods.
BUT...be safe...the other reason for wolves to be so bold is rabies infection or hunger. In the future walk with a staff. It won't scare off a spirit guide but it will scare off or fend off a regular wolf and it may partially protect you from a sick wolf. Do you have friends who can explore the woods with you?
I love wolves and have seen them up close. Good luck.
