Pagan/Wiccan Religion - Casting circles

Expert: Babylon Jasmine - 7/8/2009

Question
Merry meet
I'm 14 almost 15 and I've been a Wiccan for a few days now. I've done a lot of research on it and how to cast circles. I know the basics like welcoming the 4 elements into then circle then welcoming the Goddess and God into the circle but I don't know what I'm supposed to say after that. Am I supposed to thank them for the good things in my life? Ask them for healing and guidance? Or is it something else? Or just whatever I want? If you could please give me some tips on what I should say. Also I found a poem to read for Lammas on the Sabbat. Am I supposed to read that poem before I cast the circle or after I welcome in the Goddess and God? Help me if you could?

Answer
After you have cast your circle you conduct whatever ritual you have planned.  In the case of the poem that'd be your ritual, so after you welcomed in the directions and the deities you would go ahead and read it.

Also, don't forget to close your circle at the end and bid the deities and the directions goodbye.
