About Lord RainEagle Expertise I am Wiccan, and am willing to answer questions regarding the Wiccan and Pagan Faiths.
Experience I have been on a solitaire Path for 20 years, and have gained a good deal of knowlege, and practicality. I must admit tho, I have a long way to go to know everything. I have studied Wicca, Shamanism, and various other paths, and am quite well versed in Christianity as well.
Organizations I am a current member of the Divine Order of the Celestials, and am an Instructor, and Assistant Educational Director with them. I am also ordained into the Wiccan Ministry as a Priest.
Publications I have written articles which have appeared in the Celestials E-zine, and have had a number of Poems published.
Question Me and my friends are doing our history fair project on Wicca. And we need information of how the miscommunication of the wiccan religion began. Please help us out. Also if you can name any book/website sources we really need some.
Thanks!
Answer Greetings Grim Prophet;
I can give you a basic overview of what mis-communication and misunderstanding has occured with Wicca. Primarily, back in the days if the Ancient Celts, a Wiccae was something of a MidWife. This person (mostly female, but there were males as well) was usually the person the entire villiage went to for not only the "sniffles and flu etc," but for "service" ensuring the crops were plentiful and the Gods appeased. When the Christian movement began it's upswing, to gain followers, it was mandated the "Old Ways" would have to be given up. To ensure this, the Wiccae (Celtic word meaning Wise One) were villified, when something went wrong with the crops, or perhaps a baby was born with birth defects, or someone took ill and died; the rumour was spread that it was because the Wiccae had placed a curse on the party in question. Fear grew, as would be the case, and thus began the misunderstandings about Wicca. Since then, and after hundreds of years, Wicca began to take shape once again, largely in part because of Gerald Gardener and others who brought about a new way of thinking in reguards to accepting the Wise One's ways, and the respect for Mother Nature. This is indeed not all that happened, but it is the crux of it. To study it further, I would suggest sites such as www.witchvox.com. There are links there to many different websites dealing with the subject, as well as a plethora of excellent information on Modern Day Wicca, and what our Religion is all about. Books would include ones by Scott Cunningham...I believe it's called Modern Day Wicca. There are many others, but this is a start. Should you have any other questions, feel free to write. Until then, Brightest Blessings....Lord RainEagle
