Pagemaker (Adobe) - eps in pagemaker

Expert: Glen Demers - 11/25/2008

Question
when i insert a 300ppi high res eps in pagemaker it shows up fuzzy and pixelated can you please help me solve this mystery and it prints fuzzy

Answer
Hi Mandla,

First, make sure you are viewing in high resolution mode. go to File>General Preferences and select high resolution for graphics display. You can temporarily enable high res preview by holding down the Control key(Mac) or Ctrl + Shift (PC) while you are placing or redrawing a graphic. You can force a redraw by selecting the current view from the view menu or by collapsing and expanding the window.
If the high resolution preview still shows a pixelated graphic then the problem is with the eps file, it is showing you the preview and the link to the high res image has been broken. This will have to be fixed in the drawing program. It happens when a high resolution bitmap image is linked to an Illustrator or FreeHand file instead of embedded.
Since you say the print is fuzzy as well as the display, I suspect this is the problem.

Hope this helps,
Glen Demers
