Pagemaker (Adobe) - Pagemaker graphics

Expert: Glen Demers - 9/30/2008

Question
When I export my projects to PDF, my logo keeps coming out in an unsmooth pattern. I use TIFF files. Is there a better graphic file to use? I need my graphics to be smooth like the type. My photos are fine.

Answer
Hi Barry,

TIFF files are a bitmap format - they are composed of bits representing individual pixels. Type is a vector format - the file has the shape of the letter and it is filled with pixels depending on the resolution of the output device.
You need to place logos and graphics in PageMaker in vector format - these are usually Illustrator or FreeHand files saved as .eps files.
Be aware that .eps files can be bitmap as well, but if you enlarge the graphic and the edge quality doesn't degrade, you probably have vector art.
Also, make sure your links are up to date before exporting to pdf.

Hope this helps,
