Pagemaker (Adobe)/exporting to pdf
Expert: Glen Demers - 9/18/2008
QuestionQUESTION: I have PM 7.0 and can successfully expoert within the programme to pdf but it shrinks slightly in the conversion. How can I maintain the same size?
ANSWER: Hi Ian,
Make sure in the export dialog box that Page size is "Same as Current Document". If you are printing .ps files and distilling them separately make sure scale is set to 100% under the paper handling options.
The pages will be the same size even though Acrobat and Pagemaker may display them at different sizes.
Hope this helps,

QUESTION: Hi Glen
Thanks for that. I checked the box and it is "Same as current publication". I am exporting from a PM7.0 file into a pdf using the export utility. It still shrinks about 5%. a 10cm line exports into a 9.5cm line. Is this normal? Its just I have to prepare ads in exactly the right size. I'm not a computer expert but a headteacher in a secondary school. I still feel its something I'm doing incorrectly. Also its the ame on a variety of printers including the newspaper's
Thanks
Ian
AnswerHi Ian,
With a reduction that small, I feel that somewhere a "fit to page" button is checked. Try looking under the file menu under page set up. You can also try changing the default page size under joboptions to your page size.
If that doesn't work, let me know what system you are using and I will try to replicate it.
Also, Try going to File>Printer Styles>Define and make sure you current print style has the scale set to 100%. I don't know if the export to pdf program accesses these settings but it can't hurt. A reduction that small is generally created to print all of a page on a printer that has to leave a small margin around the edges and correcting it may be as simple as changing your default printer.
Hope this helps,
