Question
QUESTION: I find that Illustraor CS3/9.0 files with text on them and placed on Page Maker document are of very poor resolution in print as well as in screen view. How do I improve the resolution of the images so placed?

ANSWER: Hi Bandula,

I would try saving the files as Illustrator 8 or earlier .eps files.

Hope this helps,

QUESTION: Thank you very much for the response. It worked for some of my Illustrator files. I suspect the problem is with my files.

There is another placement I had not been successful. That is placing large Excel Work sheets on Page 7.0. They always come as a heap of text, without original Excel formatting. I think I tick all the options required for this in the Place/filter windows. What else I should do/look for?

Thank you again.

Answer
Hi Bandula,

Excel files are tricky, you can either export the text and reformat it all in PageMaker or try exporting the file out of Excel as a pdf. Once you have the pdf try opening and saving out of Illustrator (watch for font issues) or Photoshop (which will give you a large tiff).
Good luck, I have never had much success with saving the formatting of excel files.

Hope this helps,
