Pagemaker (Adobe) - Generate PDF file - different page size

Expert: Glen Demers - 10/15/2009

Question
I have newsletters created in PageMaker - tabloid size.
They want me to generate 4 letter size pdf files instead of 2 tabloid pdf files. Any suggestions?
I use CUTE PDF program to convert.

Answer
Hi Sarah,

I'm not familiar with CUTE PDF so I don't know what settings you are using to make pdf's. In our shop we sometimes receive pdf's that are made up as two page spreads and we have to rip them as single pages, the way I handle it is this way. I make a copy of the pdf and open it in Acrobat. I then insert the original pdf so that my pdf has two copies of every page. The first page I crop 8.5 inches from the right and the second page I crop 8.5 inches from the left.
In PageMaker you may try generating a postscript file under options in the print dialog box. If your document is tabloid size select a postscript printer instead of printing to pdf and select letter for your page size. Select auto tiling and 0pt for overlap. You can then use CUTE PDF to convert the ps files to pdf's.

Hope this helps,
Glen Demers
