Pagemaker (Adobe) - Pagemaker 7 page do not delete

Expert: Glen Demers - 10/26/2009

Question
Hi,
Nice to know about your technical knowledge, we really need people like you to guide us. I am using PM7 with windows XP SP2. I am publishing monthly yellow pages (80-100 pages full of ads)from past 16 yrs using pagemaker. I keep getting error messages on my file, but somehow or the other I resolve to the best of my ability.
Today I faced a problem I am not able to solve. A particular page of PM7 file doesnot accept any changes, just a click will give an error "Adobe Pagemaker@ for Windows@ application file" as heading with sorry text below and options of Debug / Send Error Report / Dont send Error Report. What ever you select the PM7 will shut down.
I tries few things - Re numbering page Nos. - Deleting pages one by one - Renaming Prefernce file - Unlinking graphics - Reinstalling PM7 - and few other thinks, but nothing helped. Now I am in a big hot soup and I cannot complete the file. I even tried copying content to a different file but that gives some other form of error.

Answer
Hi Pradeep,

Save a copy of your document, holding the shift and control keys go to Type>Hyphenation. When this is through it will beep - 1 beep, the file is okay, 2 beeps, the file had errors that were fixed, 3 beeps, the file has unfixable errors. Do a "Save as..." and save a copy. Then try holding down the shift key and selecting "Go To Page..." This will cycle through all your pages. when it returns to the page you started on, hit any key to stop and do another "Save as...".
If these don't fix your document, open a new one and copy pages from the old one to the new one by selecting elements on each page - DO NOT do a "Select All" command as this will copy errors from the old doc to the new one.

Hope this helps,
Glen Demers
