Question QUESTION: I just reloaded pagemaker 7.0 with all the updates. When I go to execute the program I get the following error: "The application failed to initialize properly (0cx0000094) Click ok to terminate" The message repeats itself twice before exit. I had this problem before but sometimes after loading other programs, I would go back to Pagemaker and it would initialize. I have run this problem by Adobe Techs and they have been unable to help me. I hope I can find the solution here. Thank you.
ANSWER: Hi Joe,
You'll have to re-install PageMaker and try launching it after each install, in other words, don't install the app and all the updates all at once.
If that doesn't work, try looking at any system upgrades or additions made since the last time PageMaker worked and turn off any unnecessary programs when launching PageMaker.
If these don't work let me know what system you're on and what caused you to have to reload PageMaker and we'll work from there.
Hope this helps,
Glen Demers

QUESTION: Hello Glen, Thank you for your reply but I have to admit I have done exactly has you suggested many times. I have a PC with Windows XP Pro. Pagemaker 7.0 was loaded on this CPU for the first time and received that error code. Then I installed the 7.01 update, followed by the 7.01a update. I still get the error message.
Answer Hi Joe,
I'm a mac guy but we do have PageMaker running on a windows xp pc here, so I know it will work. In other forums this error message (with different numbers) indicates a system compatibility problem. When MS Office fails to initialize the cure is to reinstall windows SP1a. Another fix was to check and properly set the permissions for Power users group and users group to read/execute - I would try this before reinstalling the service pack.
Under control panel>user accounts make sure you are the administrator when you install Pagemaker.
As a last desperate attempt, try reducing the resolution of your monitor or try a different (older) monitor.
Hopefully something here will work,
Glen Demers
