Pagemaker (Adobe)/scrambled text

Question
QUESTION: Glen,

I have used PM 6.5 successfully for years with Windows XP, placing MS Word text on the pages. I have now placed an 8 page document and edited it for an hour and suddenly, instead of laying neatly across the pages, I have a column marching down the page, one-letter wide. I have no idea what I have done and how to un-do it! This has also affected captions under graphics. Your suggestions will be appreciated!

ANSWER: Hi Kathy,

I think you may have to start over, but you may be able to copy your edited text.
I think this is a problem caused by MS styles being imported into PageMaker. Try removing all imported styles and see if that fixes your text.

Hope this helps,

QUESTION: Thanks for your suggestion. However, when I tried to type text on a new page (not in the area where the MS was inserted), I had the same problem. Could only place text down, not across. So I closed down the program and reopened it and thankfully, everything was restored.
Who knows?! Gremlins.

Answer
Hi Kathy,

I'm glad it worked out, I'd only encountered this problem once, years ago and couldn't remember the particulars of what, if anything, fixed it.

Glad eveything is working again,
