Pagemaker (Adobe) - Pagemaker 7.0 Index

Expert: Glen Demers - 4/5/2009

Question
Is there a page limit when creating a PM 7.0 Index.
I have a reference document that I have created (approx 1200 pages) with all chapters (70) following automated sequential page numbering.
Approx 1/3 of the resulting index items are one page off, usually an even numbered page that should be the following odd numbered page. For some index line items that may have multiple page references, it appears that random pages have this one-page difference.
The whole document is camera-ready and the index is holding up completion. please advise.
Thanx
Geoff

Answer
Hi Geoff,

I've always assumed that the page limit for PageMaker was 999 pages, but I've never had occasion to test this.
You may have to break it into two documents each with it's own index and then move the index from the first section to it's place on the end of the second part after breaking the links.

Hope this helps,
Glen Demers
