Pagemaker (Adobe) - Pagemaker 5.0a and pdf's

Expert: Glen Demers - 7/17/2009

Question
I just bought a usb floppy drive and installed a copy of pagemaker 5.0 which i own onto a windows xp machine. i had this program installed on a 486 years ago and to teach myself the program i duplicated the front page of the Boston Globe. I still have this document on my present computer as a pdf. I could have sworn I made the pdf in pagemaker, but now cannot figure out how I did it. I really want to be able to save pm5 documents as pdf. Any ideas? thanks in advance for responding.

Answer
Hi David,

PageMaker will save a postscript file (.ps). In the print dialog box select save to file. You have to then distill this into a pdf using Adobe Acrobat distiller.

Years ago PageMaker shipped with Distiller 3, I'm not sure if this was with version 5 or 4, but you have to have Distiller in order to create pdf files out of PageMaker.

Hope this helps,
Glen Demers
