having many problems with Pagemaker running in classic.
1. When using the Index facility the program crashes. Once the index is deleted the file is O.K.
2. The publication in progress is 150+ pages. The program runs alright up to this stage then begins to over-write, crash, will not save outside "edit" mode, in page mode, shifts text perimeters.
Perhaps that is enough complaints for now. Have used Pagemaker for the last 20 or so years with no problems on older Macs.
Hope you can assist.
Please let me know:
1. Current Operating System
2. Model of Mac
3. Version of Pagemaker

QUESTION: Hi Jim,
Thanks for the email.
Current operating system - OSX 10.3.9
Model of Mac - 800 MHz Power PC G4
Version of pagemaker - 6.5
Just a few things to note:
Indexing and pages require a ton of menmory. You might consider splitting documents into more manageable memory sizes...
Have you tried throwing away the prefs for it?
You might also be having a font problem. Pagemaker is VERY attached to Fonts.
Try removing as many fonts as you can from the Classic fonts folder (/System Folder/Fonts). You should be able to remove everything except Chicago, Charcoal, Geneva and Gadget for a base system and still be okay.
6.5 'technically' will run on Mac OS 9 or earlier - may run under 10 'Classic' but Adobe doesn't support it at all. Adobe has admitted that 'The Macintosh version ...does not run well under Classic' recommending customers use an older Macintosh capable of booting into Mac OS 9.
Best I can do....
