Question
Hi Sharon,
I'm hoping you can help! I work at a newspaper which uses PC's and the Adobe Pagemaker program to place all of our information to be sent to the printer. Here is the problem, on our classified ads and legal ads when we place them and proof them for accuracy (this does not happen to printed copies) we get big black block lines going down each column, the blocks are about the size of our column which in turn does not allow us to review the ad for accuracy. Do you have any tips? We do not want to copy and paste the ads--that is too much work, we need to be able to place them. Thanks ahead of time for any advice you can offer! We use Pagemaker 6.5

Answer
Are the lines where the ads are?  If so, try looking at your preferences.  Go to File>Preferences>General, and look under graphics display.  If it says gray out, change it to High Resolution temporarily and see what that does.  If it works, go back into preferences after you have viewed them and change it back to standard.  You also might want to try throwing out your preferences.  Look in Pagemaker Help to find out where they are.

Let me know if this helps!

Sharon
