Question Dear Ms. Pettis,
I am considering printing up some of my unpublished works and selling them myself online. My question is which is the best software to create or turn these manuscripts into your average everyday book? I have seen a lot of programs at various computer stores so what should I look for and at the best value.
Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Dr. John Cary (sounds like the candidate's name)
Answer Dr. Cary:
If I were you, I would use any software you want, and then create PDFs with Adobe Acrobat and sell them online that way. Your customers can download Adobe Reader software (for PDFs) for free if they don't have it already through a link on your site.
Pagemaker is a good program for books, and there are many others on the market like MS Word, InDesign, or Quark Xpress. Word is definitely the cheapest, but you would also need a PDF creator, which will be at least $100 additional.
