Pain Management - Scoliosis and pain

Expert: Dr. Man Tran, Ph.D., D.C., L.Ac. - 3/5/2009

Question
I am 12 and I have scoliosis my curve percent is around 14 my problem is the fact that my hamstrings are always tight and hurt a great deal I stretch everyday morning and night and take hot baths every morning and night. Do you think the hamstring pain is from my scoliosis or something else. Also what do you recommend that I do my parents have taken me to several doctors and while at times i get better I never seem to improve. I love to play sports yet I am getting very frustrated.
Thanks

Matthew

Answer
Hi Mathew,

The  hamstring tightness is most likely from activities you do involve with the legs.  Could be running, jumping, or leg curls.

Stretching is a good idea so keep it up.

As for seeing a doctor for the scoliosis, since you have been going to doctors already, have you tried a chiropractic office?
