Pain Management - pain-sharp stabbing laser heat in right leg-ankle-feet

Expert: Dr. Man Tran, Ph.D., D.C., L.Ac. - 3/31/2009

Question
I have a very sharp stabbing pain that feels like a hot laser and it comes and goes at will, when it comes it stays unless I rub or strech or put ice on it. And it will come back when it wants to. Sometimes I think someone is using the Satellite in the sky to shoot a hot laser at my ankle foot. It started hitting me in my right leg/right side of leg(so I hit and rubbed it away for a week or two) then it moved from my leg to my ankle, now more inside my right foot and the pain is really bad when it comes(will it keep traveling and go into my toes and then disapear or what? Can anyone tell me what is going on for: ice will help but even with ice on it it will come back-it just keep striking me while typing this letter) please help me!

Answer
Dear Jerry,

Hmmmm...there could be various factors involved.  Usually with sharp stabbing pain, it could indicate a tear in the muscle or tendon or ligament.  Since ice helps, this could indicate an inflammation occurring at the site of pain.  It would be best to visit a doctor office such as a chiropractor for a complete examination to be exact.
