Question
I was recently in a bad motorcycle accident and now have 9 plates in my face and one big one in  my arm along with six pins in my hand.My doctor has been reducing my pain meds, but i am still in pain, and he wont listen to me or return my calls. What should i do?

Answer
Hi, Brian,

Not to be flippant, but find another doc -- consult with the pain management section of a local hospital.  Perhaps they can give you a referral.

If the injury is recent, as I gather it is, the pain is outside the scope of my practice, which deals with pain that persists after healing.

best wishes.
