Question
I received a painting as a gift and cannot find out anything about the artist. There is a certificate of authenticity from Collier art corp.  The artist is Martin. On the painting it says D Martin. It is an oil painting titled Mediterranian (spelled as it is on the painting). Can you help me out? I am a massage therapist and have had it on my wall forever because the colors are wonderful and it flows with my massage room. I have tried to Google him/her but I am not able to find out a thing. I appreciate anything you can offer. Thank you! Kara

Answer
Art ID is not my thing:
Try these guides:

Artist Research Library
www.artincontext.org

Find Thousands of Artists by Name, Discipline, Period, Term & More.

I recommend that you contact an appraisal service in your area. You may also wish to use the services of an online appraisal service such as   www.eppraisals.com.

You might contact the American National Gallery research library or look in their online inventory for the artist's name.. http://www.nga.gov/resources/dldesc.shtm

(or likewise ask for help from your local museum of art).

Free information and advice is worth exactly what it costs: nothing!
