Painting - identifying type of paper used

Question
I found a painting hidden behind the print in a frame i purchased at a thrift store.I have had quite a few compliments on it and people have commented on how it almost has a 3 dimensional feel to it.Could you please help me identify the medium? it seems to be watercolor and pastel and i first thought it was some sort of print that was painted over from its silver backing but when held up to the light from back there are no obvious outlines. It is signed and dated.I can not read the signature (gruf..?) and it has 50 after the name...also strangely there is a N painted in the bottom of the path just to the nw of signature.....i could only download one picture the pics are as not as focused as i would of liked but hope they help.
Answer Dear Kathleen,
Without actually holding and seeing the paper for myself, I can only give you an educated guess but I am fairly sure that the artist used a heavy weight water color paper (140-300lbs.)
If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Robert M. Vincent
