Question
QUESTION: Hello, I recently acquired some paintings from my Great Aunt, who recently passed away. In her younger years, she represented a German artist, Hans Reitterscheid. I am interested in knowing more about him. I am unsuccessful in search on the web. Anything would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

ANSWER: Hello Birgit,
Would you please put up a photo of the painting, and a close-up of his signature.  Thanks

Regards

Josef-Peter

QUESTION: Hello again! ok after looking a little closer, the artist's name is Hans Reiherscheid.

Answer
Hi Birgit,
I looked at Google.de, thats the German website and he is listed as Hans Reifferscheid, he is a self taught artist. His spelling on the painting is probably in old German text. The abve spelling is correct.

Here is the website:http://www.kunstlex.de/Hans-Reifferscheid-1902.htm

You can start with that, if you have any trouble reading German let me know, I will help you.  I am German from the old country, well not that old.

Regards

Josef-Peter Römer
