Painting/Ship Oil Painting

Question
Hi Josef-Peter,

We have paintings from China to be shipped to Germany.  We are having second thoughts about how the movers packed our paintings.  They started wrapping the painting with wax paper, then bubble wrap, then a corrugated cardboard for protection.  If the wax paper touches the oil painting over a certain period of time, will the painting be damaged?  Would you prefer an air shipment?

Thank you,
ABigail

Answer
Hello Abigail,

Thank your for your question, the wax paper will not hurt the painting
some artists even wax their painting and then polish it for a finish on oil paintings.  It should be fine, the only thing I would worry about is how many times it will be handled and will it be in a safe place during shipping, and not have other things set on top of it.

Regards

Josef-Peter
