Question
i have been commisioned to refurbish a mural on a stucco wall. they want pretty much the same thing but jazzed up a little and want me to paint directly on the old one. what kind of paint should i use. i am in florida and it gets to 100 degrees usually during the day. also what other supplies should i have handy for this.

Answer
Hi John,
Thank you for your question. First of all is it a inside mural or outside?, and if outside has the color faded or does it look more like a watercolor.  If the customer wants it to look like a fresco then the colors are not quite as strong and you will need to thin them more with water to get a watercolor effect.

I would use Casein paint by Shiva link; (http://www.aswexpress.com/discount-art-supplies/online/2071/art-supplies/4) you can leave it when finished as is and it will dry to a nice matt finish, or you can varnish it and have it look like oil paint.

It will last forever or as long as the house will anyway and it is waterproof.  That's the paint I prefer to paint on stucco, you also can use acrylic paint, but it will not have as nice of a finish in my opinion.

You can find all the supplies you need at: www.aswexpress.com that is a website for professional artists, the prices are better then anything you can get at your local art store and of professional quality.

The supplies you will need is Casein paint, assorted colors and White plus oil painting brushes

I hope this will help you

Regards

Josef-Peter
