Question QUESTION: Hi,
I'm a beginning painter. Is there an additive for watercolor paint to make colors
permanent? I'm interested in wet into wet layers, with out disturbing underlying
layers of paint.
I'm trying to avoid having to invest in acrylic paints as I've made a large investment in
tubes of watercolors.
Thanks for your time and expertise, Carol
ANSWER: Dear Carol,
Please forgive the delay in answering your question, i was abroad and without Internet access. I would highly recommend that you go ahead and invest in acrylics. I know you said that you wanted to avoid the cost of buying a new collection of paints but I truly think to achieve the effects (i.e., wet on wet) you are looking for you will only get this through using acrylic or oil paints.

QUESTION: Thanks Robert,
Do you have a good basic palette and brand you could recommend?
Regards, Carol
Answer Dear Carol,
Dick Blick carries several good basic palettes and all the brands are reputable. I however use a piece of plain plate glass for my watercolor and oil paints.
I hope this helps! As always, do not hesitate to contact me.
