Question
Hi, Thank you for your time.Free help is hard to find!!!
I found this original painting with incredible detail(surface has different texures)and fell in love with it,I had no idea at the time that it was a greek myth. There is pictures with in the picture.I found a monogram on the bottom left with a magnifying glass(will send pic of it too)I looked on artistsignatures but had no luck I am hoping that I can get a little help or direction of where to start looking to find the artist or period that it was painted in. again thanks so much!

Answer
Hi Gail,
great painting!! sometimes the artist hides it in the painting, or signs on the back of the painting.
Here are some website you might try:www.askart.com  or www.artnet.com

Other then looking on the web and googling Greek mythology paintings, you might want to call a local art appraiser.

I hope this helps some what.

Regards

Josef-Peter
