Experience
I began as a decorative painter/artist 15 years ago. My work has appeared in magazines from award winning designer show houses in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and Architectural Digest. Most recently I have spent the last 3 years creating, developing and patenting a numerical color selection system that takes the subjective nature out of color. Since it is numerically based, color can be chosen quickly and accurately. For the past year, I have conducted training seminars for the "Color with No Regrets" System to decorating professionals around the United States. My background in decorative painting/art, has given me real life experience of how color works but more importantly why it works based on sound color principles. I am also an authorized Aqua Finishing Solutions Distributor and a certified training instructor for the Society of Decorating Professionals.

Question
Hi we just bought a split entry and need help painting the down stairs is the livingroom and Kic all opened up in the living room the wall is devided so would need 2 colors as well as matching the kic. the carpet is a light blue. up stairs the master suite and sitting room have a mauve carpet what goes with are mauve carpet (we have to keep it right now) For the other room there is a darker blue carpet what goes with that?? Help! Thanks

Answer
Hi Lisa,

Take a look at Sherwin Williams Ecru which is a nice neutral color that works with both the blue and the mauve.  Another color that works nicely with the blue (but not the mauve) is Bagel.  For you kitchen there is a nice blue-gray called Tradewind which would help marry your lr/dr into your kitchen. Actually blue and browns are very trendy right now. This would work in your kitchen especially if you have deeper cabinets.

If you want to send over a picture, I can alter it to show you what it will look like before you paint. Just let me know, I would love to help you.

Thanks for asking.
