Experience I began as a decorative painter/artist 15 years ago. My work has appeared in magazines from award winning designer show houses in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and Architectural Digest. Most recently I have spent the last 3 years creating, developing and patenting a numerical color selection system that takes the subjective nature out of color. Since it is numerically based, color can be chosen quickly and accurately. For the past year, I have conducted training seminars for the "Color with No Regrets" System to decorating professionals around the United States. My background in decorative painting/art, has given me real life experience of how color works but more importantly why it works based on sound color principles. I am also an authorized Aqua Finishing Solutions Distributor and a certified training instructor for the Society of Decorating Professionals.

Question I need help choosing paint colors for my familyroom, kitchen, foyer. They open up to each other and the FR and foyer are two stories. Here's what I have to work with. Kitchen-pickled white cabinets with kind of an aqua countertop, tile floor with greys, and beiges. Family room-beige carpet, leather couches, color paprika. The trim in all the rooms is light brown.I was looking at the Sherwin Wiliams color,Autumnal, for the family room, but I'm not sure, and truelly have no idea what to do with the kitchen and foyer. Any suggestions would be great.
Painter uses Sherwin Williams,btw.
Answer Hi Colleen,
Autumnal is a great color, and it seems like a really good choice for your family room. From what I am envisioning, Bravado red would look nice with your cabinets, aqua counter tops, grey and beige floor.
Autumnal will look great coming off of the kitchen red and your foyer could be a deeper Blue-green such as Composed or Surf Green. All colors will create a split-complementary color story. Each has a similar value to provide a great flow in an open floor plan. (all Sherwin Williams products)
Let me know if you have any other questions. If you want to send over a picture, I can alter it for you. Then you will see how it looks before you paint. Thanks for asking.
