Subject: terra cotta paint

Question
Hi, i own an old building with old terra cotta facade which is painted over few times by the previous owner of the building. i like the paint over existing layers of paint with a terra cotta like paint system. i am very handy and like to do the paint myself. can you give me some lead where to buy and how to apply the paint ?
thanks

Answer
Hi Jacob
I need more information here: First, terracotta is not a paint or paint system, it's a type of red-burning clay, like what is used to make red clay flower pots and Saltillo tile. Some old buildings have terracotta tiles on the exterior though. I would be surprised if the tiles are painted. If you can give me more information on the type of existing paint on the building, I can help.
thanks!
reb
