Experience I began as a decorative painter/artist 15 years ago. My work has appeared in magazines from award winning designer show houses in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and Architectural Digest. Most recently I have spent the last 3 years creating, developing and patenting a numerical color selection system that takes the subjective nature out of color. Since it is numerically based, color can be chosen quickly and accurately. For the past year, I have conducted training seminars for the "Color with No Regrets" System to decorating professionals around the United States. My background in decorative painting/art, has given me real life experience of how color works but more importantly why it works based on sound color principles. I am also an authorized Aqua Finishing Solutions Distributor and a certified training instructor for the Society of Decorating Professionals.

Question Hi Cyndie,
I just purchased my first apartment, a 400 square foot Manhattan studio. I am excited to be moving in, and can't afford to do much right now other than paint. I am a little puzzled about how to pick a color that will compliment the mahogany red wood floors, which I plan to partially cover with a neutral carpet. The current owner has the walls painted a barn-red type color and has red curtains!! too much red, I plan to change both. Thanks...
Answer Hi Robert,
Congratulations! How exciting to have a fresh start in a new home. Since the red is too much for you and you plan on purchasing a neutral carpet, I would choose a more neutral color for the walls. Take a look at Sherwin Williams Ecru. It is neutral while providing a nice complement for your floors.
Is it possible for you to send over a picture? I can alter it to show you how it will look before you paint. It may be hard to visualize with all of the red you have. I think you would find it very helpful. If you need my assistance, I am happy to help.
Thanks for asking.
