Painting & Wallpapering/Poly stripes

Question
I am doing poly stripes in my kitchen (was going to do a high gloss finish in the same color but was told by the guy at the paint store that poly would be easier).  I have a problem.  I missed some pencil marks when I was taping off, I thought I had erased them all, and now some are under the poly and showing through.  How should I fix this?  If I had done the high gloss paint this wouldn't be an issue.  Now I am really kicking myself!!!  Please help!

Answer
Ashley,

Oh dear, I am sorry but as clever as paint technology has become, we have still not developed a system for removing marks beneath a dried film.

If you can't possibly live with these marks then you will have to overcoat with an opaque finish.

If you do decide to re-coat remember the poly dries very hard and will have to be sanded down thoroughly to provide a key.

Sorry to be so negative but hope this helps.

Regards,

Tony.
