Question

thank you for your time

Answer
Hi Tracy
I'd look at old-world style or Mexican Talavera tiles...or the colors used in them if that style isn't your thing. (Image here: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71BV4AxlhrL._SL500_AA280_.jpg)

I mention them because they are casual, rustic and have many color options including terracotta, greens, blues, golds, rusty reds, cream, browns, cobalt blues, etc. The design range from geometric to folk art-y flowers and birds to abstract. They are also available in solid colors, so you can create a mostly solid (Like cream) pattern and intersperse patterned tiles for more interest. (And so it's not so busy).
Italian tiles as well as Moorish & Spanish tiles are also available in these old world-looking designs. Here is another image, an Italian tile: http://imagecache5.art.com/p/LRG/19/1916/52L9D00Z/ruth-franks-italian-tile-i.jpg
Note the pattern similarity to the Talavera tiles...they all have a Moorish design feeling to them because of the influence from North Africa and Spain.

Good luck with adding a little pattern into your life!
