Painting & Wallpapering - Repaiting Wrought Iron tables

Expert: Laura Mesich - 4/9/2009

Question
I have two end tables and a coffee table with wrought iron bases. About ten years ago I patina them with turquoise and a little copper. To give them that southwest look. I would like to repaint them now to give them a more modern look of this Iron furniture that you see everywhere. The furniture has curls in it so would be a pain to try and remove the patina, would I just spray paint them and if so what color would I use? Would I spray Black first and if so how would I get that brown/black look? I have Onyx slab tops for all of these tables.

Thank you,
Pat from Arizona

Answer
I just did my light fixture,  by layering brown, black and than a bit of red and than more brown, more black. It cam out excellent. I used some glossy and some flat to give it some more texture. You can use a faux fin. paint or they sell at the craft store small jars of paint. I think it is going to look fab!
Good luck, Laura
