Painting & Wallpapering - Removing Paint Splatters from Wallpaper

Expert: Ed Kuchar - 5/11/2009

Question
I recently splattered a little oil-based paint on the  wallpaper in the bathroom.  It had dried before I noticed it. What is the best way to remove the paint splatters?

Answer
Since it was oil based paint, there is really nothing I know of without possibly damaging the wallpaper.
Here is a few things I'd suggest to try:
Put a small amount of a household cleaner (409, etc) in an inconspicuous place (behind a door, etc). If it does not do any damage to the wallpaper, then use a Q-tip with a tiny bit of cleaner on the paint splatter. Don't rub too hard.
You could always try paint thinner on a Q-tip. But as I said, try first in an inconspicuous place to see if it does any damage to the paper.
Hope that helps....any other questions, just ask..
