Experience I began as a decorative painter/artist 15 years ago. My work has appeared in magazines from award winning designer show houses in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and Architectural Digest. Most recently I have spent the last 3 years creating, developing and patenting a numerical color selection system that takes the subjective nature out of color. Since it is numerically based, color can be chosen quickly and accurately. For the past year, I have conducted training seminars for the "Color with No Regrets" System to decorating professionals around the United States. My background in decorative painting/art, has given me real life experience of how color works but more importantly why it works based on sound color principles. I am also an authorized Aqua Finishing Solutions Distributor and a certified training instructor for the Society of Decorating Professionals.

Could you please tell me if these colors flow, or suggest an alternative?
Foyer with cathedral ceiling: SW Restrained Gold
To the left of foyer is the livingroom: SW Ivoire walls with SW Navajo Ceiling
To the left of the livingroom is the diningroom: SW Burgundy upper wall with SW Navajo Ceiling. Lower wall will be wainscoting.
We cannot decide on trim & wainscot color. There will be a lot of heavy crown and we were hoping for something creamy. Is SW Paperwhite a cream?
Thank you so much!
Jeanne
Answer Hi Jeanne,
Paperwhite is creamy and will appear almost white since there is such a great contrast with the Burgundy. This will work if you have something to balance the visual weight such as a deeper colored rug or deeper color dining room furniture. Since Navajo is already on your ceiling, it may be a good option for the wainscot and then use paperwhite for the trim.
In this case where colors are so similar, you might want to create a sample on poster board using the 2oz samples sold in the store. This way you can get a better visual on a larger area to really see the color differences. Just make sure you do 2 coats of color on the poster board to really get the true colors.
Thanks for asking. I hope this helps you.
