Question I recently bought a house with the main bath walls covered almost entirely by cedar planks. The area aound the tub has tile but with the rest of the walls in cedar and no window, it is quite dark. I would like to paint the cedar with a very light color but I'm not sure what steps to take to ensure it covers and adheres properly.

No problem you will need a primer sealer.
My favourite primers are made by Zinsser (easily available on the Internet) They have several primer sealers that act like double sided tape adhering to the substrate and making a sound base for your preferred finish.
