Question I had two rooms with wallpaper. I removed the wallpaper, cleaned the paste and glue as much as I could. There were still some spots where glue was not getting off so I sanded, spackled (over glue) and sanded again those surfaces. I then primed twice with oil based primer. I later read about the bubbles that can appear if the glue is not completely removed off the walls. I did not know about Zinsser Gaurdz sealer at that time. Its been around 2-3 months since I primed the rooms. I don't see any bubbles yet. Is it possible that the bubbles can appear after I paint it though. Should I apply the guardz sealer now before painting. Please help as I don't want to go through the mess of redoing every thing if bubbles start appearing later on when I paint.
Answer Chandan,
Yes it is a very common problem caused by the cellulose content of wallpaper paste attacking acrylic based materials. Yes Zinsser have the range of products to eradicate the problem.
An oil based primer should do the trick but without knowing the make and substance it is hard to be certain. a small test area should provide the answer.
