Expert: Ed Kuchar - 7/3/2009

Question
3 july/09,
hello Ed: My house is 50 years old. I would greatly appreciate your information/advice regarding my bathroom: 1)ceiling paint above bathtub is peeling and flaking(ceiling is plaster, i think). how to repair ceiling and prepare to be repainted? 2)several walls have wallpaper; at most seams, the paper is peeling and lifting up. How to reglue these seams? Is it possible to paint over the wallpaper and what do i need to do to do this? I really appreciate your time and advice and i look forward to your information. thank you!!!!!

Answer
1- prime ceiling with an oil based primer... then paint..
2- reglue the seams with "seam glue".
You can paint over the wallpaper...the bad thing about that is the seams will show threw the paint.
Hope that helps....any other questions, just ask.........
