Question I am planning on painting my daughter's bedroom. It is currently a dark green color and my daughter wants it painted light pink. I heard that there are paints with "built in" primers so that I don't have to prime her room first. Is this true? Also, I have little children, so what is the best paint to use that is easy to clean and most durable? Lastly, I am painting all of the white 6-panel doors in my house. What type of paint would be best? Thank you so much!!
Answer What I'd suggest is using a latex primer (water washable and have it 1/2 tinted to the shade of pink you are using.
After the primer is dried, (usually 1 or 2 hours), paint your top coat of pink paint. (It will probably take only one coat since you are using a tinted primer).
They are making paints now that are environmentally friendly (Low or no VOC's). Ask them at your paint or hardware store.
I'd suggest a satin finish for a girl's bedroom. That is the typical finish for a bedroom and it is somewhat washable.
For your doors, I'd suggest a semi gloss paint.
Hope that helps...any other questions, just ask.....
