Painting & Wallpapering/Painting with Behr paint on fireplace brick

Question
Why do you not recommend Behr paint to be used on painting fireplace brick.

We are getting ready to move and I have enough to paint my fireplace and would hate to buy more for such a small job.

I was planning on using Kilz2 for the primer and then the same Behr paint I used on the walls or do I need a paint for high temperatures.

Thanks for your response.

Jeannie

Answer
Hi Jeannie,
The only reason I don't recommend Behr paint is because they had some problems a while back with their paint not wanting to adhere to the surface over a period of time.  People were complaining that their freshly painted walls etc. were chipping and lifting only after a short time.  If your moving and that's already what you have and you don't want to buy any more paint then I would go ahead and use what you have.  Especially if your going to use kilz primer and then paint you should be fine.  Just make sure your surface is clean and maybe just put a couple good coats of primer on first and then paint and you should be ok.  Hope this helps you! Best of luck!
