About David Prus
Expertise
I can answer any general questions about dinosaurs and on prehistoric mammals in the Cenozoic. I also know a bit about the media's various depictions of dinosaurs and their inaccuracies. I don't know much about "microfauna"-small animals, or about Paleozoic besides some knowledge about Permian animals. Plants are right out, I'm afraid.

Experience
I have been interested in dinosaurs for most of my life, own a large collection of scientific papers and books on the subject, and am a member of the Field Museum in Chicago.

Education/Credentials
I am in college, but studied biology and geology both in high school and as a personal effort.

Question
hi-i wish to ask some questions
i have read reports about spinosaurus and the new fossils that have been found but im not sure of the official reports of size and what parts of the skeleton have been found. i read that a skull 7ft5 was found andanother 5ft9 skull witch was compared with baryonyx and was very large .is this correct?
do you know which dinosaur replica scale models are the most accurate and have you any information on what new dinosaurs will be released?
carnegie and bullyland and schleich seem to be the best but many other ordinary companies seem to be getting better as i have some and compared detailed and with some dinosaur reconstructions in high recommended books and the lower quailty companies seem to using scientifc data to an extent. whay would this be?
thanks

Answer
The first skull found by Stromer in 1915 was roughly five feet long. The second, found by Dal Sasso in 2005, was slightly less than six feet long. 7ft5 is an exaggeration.

I'm afraid I know little of actual models. For information on museum-quality toys/models, I've frequented The Dinosaur Collector site. The three companies you mentioned are still considered the best.

There's been a call for accuracy in dinosaur toys nowadays. Variety has also been stressed (Kaiyodo and Starlux, for example). As long as dinosaurs are news-material, people will want something that reflects it (for example, Bullyland's Arizonasaurus came out soon after the discovery, and the Chinese feathered dinosaurs are big sellers). It's very competitive, so I would think that the smaller companies like AAA are trying simply to keep up with the larger companies.
