AboutDavid Prus Expertise I can answer any general questions about dinosaurs and on prehistoric mammals in the Cenozoic. I also know a bit about the media's various depictions of dinosaurs and their inaccuracies. I don't know much about "microfauna"-small animals, or about Paleozoic besides some knowledge about Permian animals. Plants are right out, I'm afraid.
Experience I have been interested in dinosaurs for most of my life, own a large collection of scientific papers and books on the subject, and am a member of the Field Museum in Chicago.
Education/Credentials I am in college, but studied biology and geology both in high school and as a personal effort.
Question Hello, i would like to ask you some questions:
1)Which dinosaurs where possible prey items for Carnotaurus?
2)Why was Majungasaurus capable of hunting Rapetosaurus alone?
3)What was the average weight of the following dinosaurs:
Rajasaurus
Aucasaurus
Carnotaurus
Ceratosaurus
Majungasaurus
THANK YOU.
Answer 1) Carnotaurus was the only dinosaur found in its strata, the La Colonia Formation in Argentina. However, based on earlier and nearby faunas, there were giant sauropods called Titanosaurs(adults were too big, but their juveniles were easy prey) There were possibly hadrosaurs there too, like Kritosaurus, that would make up the majority of its prey.
2) Rapetosaurus was small for a sauropod, only 40 feet long. While still almost twice the size of a Majungasaurus, it just wasn't large enough to avoid being preyed on.
