About Lisa DesGroseilliers Expertise I can answer anything about the Palm OS platform. I have been using a PalmPilot / PDA ever since they became commonplace. I can help you with which model to choose and tips on how you can program it to fit your "stressed and/or busy" lifestyle. I have a Treo 650 SmartPhone which uses the Palm 5.0 OS. Sorry, do not have enough experience with the Windows Mobile platform.
Experience I self-taught myself how to use PDAs and the first smartphone I used was the Treo 600 about 2 years ago. I moved to the 650 several months ago (Sept 2006). I use it since I have 2 jobs and it has helped me to keep my 2 jobs organized and relieve the stress from following multiple schedules. Also, I can show you how to use your phone as a recorder.

Question QUESTION: I have a Palm Tungsten E PDA and have been hot syncing it with a desk top running XP. I recently switched to a HP laptop running VISTA and want to hot sync to it. All data is on Outlook. I loaded the Palm software onto the HP but when I hot sync it is searching for the desk top.
ANSWER: Hello Robert.
There was a whole issue to this when Vista first came out. None of Palm's previous software worked with Vista. There is now an official page for all issues with Palm and Vista here - http://www.palm.com/us/support/windowsvista/. You will have to install the new version that is meant just for Vista. There is also a specific update on that page if you sync with Outlook.
Good luck, and I am pretty sure this page will have what you need to use your PDA with Vista. If there is any other problems, let me know and I will give you other options.

QUESTION: Thank you for your answer. Will Access 6.2 work for Tungsten E? It lists Tungsten E2 and not E.
ANSWER: Hello again Robert!
Yes, that is a very valid question. And I am afraid I cannot guarantee that it works. If you visit this page - http://mytreo.net/downloads/palm-desktop,1273.html#, it seems like it may not work with the Tungsten T5 and I believe that one came out after Tungsten E. HOWEVER, it does not say it won`t work at all. The page listed above also shows what it can and cannot do. If you are willing to spend a bit of money and really want to continue using the PDA you have now, I would highly suggest you use Pocket Mirror from now on. It works on Windows Vista - http://www.chapura.com/pm_standard.php. It works with both Palm and Windows Mobile, so if you ever decide to change there is no big leap when sync'ing. Many people have moved towards Pocket Mirror since the big issue with Vista compatibility came up. Myself included.
Before doing that, you may still want to attempt to use Access 6.2 (if you don`t mind its limitations).
Good luck.

QUESTION: I tried the Pocket Mirror standard but I am embarrassed to say I was unable to get started after installing it. Could there be a problem with my HP laptop? I think I need some basic instructions. Anyway, I uninstalled the Pocket Mirror program. Need more than luck, Robert
Answer Hey there.
Yes, it seems this may be a unique problem. In order to help you further, I will need to know more. When you say you could not get Pocket Mirror started, in what way. Did it give you an error? Were you able to configure it to sync with your device? Make sure that your PDA overwrites your laptop. If not, you may accidentally erase the data already on your Palm. I am very surprised this did not work for you. You should just have to install it, identify your PDA in the installation (Device name, usually your own name), do an import/sync your device to your computer with Pocket Mirror, and make sure you tell it what you want to sync (eg. Outlook, files, etc...). If it helps, maybe you did this already, you can follow the directions here: http://www.palmpower.com/issues/issue200101/pocketmirror001.html and also here: http://support.chapura.com/answers_mm.php?keywords=&product=PocketMirror&x=21&y=... (faq with common install problems)
If any of these do not work, the only other solution I could provide would be a clean reset of your Palm, or see if someone you know who is tech savvy can see if there may be something wrong with the laptop.
I hope this helps you, sorry I could not do more if it does not.
Take care.
