Subject: Recovering data from Handspring

Question
My Handspring Visor, battery powered, just died. Is it possible for it to be repaired? If not is it possible to recover the data that is stored on the backup module? What would be the best replacement PDA? I wish that this battery model was still available.

Thanks for your attention.

Sharon

Answer
Hi Sharon,

Yes, the visor's batter is possible to replace. I'm not certain on the difficulty factor, but as a rule - not generally too difficult to replace yourself. If you want someone to replace it for you - you can try message boards on brighthand.com or 1src.com for someone to do it for you.

If you performed a regular hotsync then your back up is on your computer - simply hotsync again when the battery is replaced.

If you didn't hotsync, then there is no back up - unless you backed up the data on the handheld to a card.
