Palm Pilots, Handspring Visors & PDAs/Dell Axim Settings Question

Question
Hello,

I have a Dell Axim x30. When I press the "power" button, the PDA comes out of sleep, but the screen is incredibly dull - I have to brighten it before use, which is really irritating. If I go into "Settings" and set it to run on full screen brightness when running on battery power, this will work for a little while and the machine will illuminate completely when I press the power button, but then if I try to use it a short time later the screen will be dull again, as though I hadn't changed the settings at all. What am I doing wrong? How do I fix this so when I bring it out of sleep the screen leaps to full brightness?

Thank you for your time.

Answer
On my iPaq, under The Backlight in System Settings, I have a Battery Power tab with 2 checkboxes:
Turn off backlight after x time

Turn on when a button is pressed or screen is tapped

Both are checked with the x time set to 5 minutes

In addition, on the brightness tab I have the battery level set about 1/3 of the way up.

HTH
