About Lorena Milanes
Expertise
I can answer questions regarding Panama, its people, culture, places to visit, places to watch out for, hotels to stay, how much your taxi fare should be... specific information on getting around on a safe manner.

Experience
I was born and raised in Panama, educated in American schools. Since I enjoy all related to Panama history, I try to keep myself updated on local happenings in the subject. I also enjoy traveling and the internet seems a wonderful tool to use, specially when you are your own guide (which I usually am)- so I am just willing to give some of the help I have received back.

Question
QUESTION: WE are thinking of driving from Panama City to Bocas Del Torro and stopping along the way? Is this a difficult drive and how far would it be if we drove straight back to Panama city to return to the US? We have 10 days in Panama

ANSWER: Hi Anne,
Well, if you really want to make the most out of your trip take a small plane from Panama City Albrook Airport to Bocas.
The roads are bad, zero signalization and you would take at least half a day each way...
That is my honest recommendation.
Have a good trip.

QUESTION: Is it possible to fly directly to Bocas or do I need to go to David and bus it from there? Is Boquette worth a side trip? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Anne,
You can take a plane from Albrook Airport directly to Bocas.
Note that Albrook airport is about a 45 minute ride from the Tocumen International airport which is probably the one you are coming in through.
You may search www.aeroperlas.com for fares to Bocas but it should be about 150.00 USD roundtrip.
Now if you REALLY want to drive...you can drive or take a bus from Panama City to David, it is about 5 1/2 hours and the express buses are pretty comfortable.
You can then take the plane from David to Bocas (fare is about 70.00 USD). From David you are 45 minute drive from Boquete.
Boquete has been voted one of the best places in the world to retire, so now it has become expensive and overcrowded. The weather is nice, the sights too, the food is a plus - I think you will like it, I still do :)
I hope this helps.
Safe trip.
Lorena
