About Lorena Milanes
Expertise
I can answer questions regarding Panama, its people, culture, places to visit, places to watch out for, hotels to stay, how much your taxi fare should be... specific information on getting around on a safe manner.

Experience
I was born and raised in Panama, educated in American schools. Since I enjoy all related to Panama history, I try to keep myself updated on local happenings in the subject. I also enjoy traveling and the internet seems a wonderful tool to use, specially when you are your own guide (which I usually am)- so I am just willing to give some of the help I have received back.

Question
Hola Lorena;
..I just spent two weeks at Decamaron..fantastic - I love Panama...found a townhouse that I would like to purchase..I checked with many couriers and they send I can't ship household goods from Canada to Panama...is this true..how can I get some personal effects in my new home....and, I will be furnishing this two bedroom townhouse..probably by the internet..who do I call to furnish this apartment...at a reasonable price...hopefully $10,000 or under.
 thank you   Tim

Answer
Hi Tim,
Where are you in Canada ? the reason I ask is because if you are on the coast, for example Victoria you should be able to transport your goods to Los Angeles, California and I know for a fact that there are MANY departures from this port coming into Panama.
Now IF you decide to ship, take into consideration that the paperwork you have to doupon arrival of your goods  can drive you insane and be prepared to have to pay an "extra fee" a.k.a bribe.
Of course you can always have your forwarder do everything for an extra cost.
In regards to furnishing your new home, please let me know where it is located.
The reason I ask  is because if it is in the city I can probably provide the services you need or I can recommend someone else.
Hope this helps.
Lorena
