AboutLorena Milanes Expertise I can answer questions regarding Panama, its people, culture, places to visit, places to watch out for, hotels to stay, how much your taxi fare should be... specific information on getting around on a safe manner.
Experience I was born and raised in Panama, educated in American schools. Since I enjoy all related to Panama history, I try to keep myself updated on local happenings in the subject. I also enjoy traveling and the internet seems a wonderful tool to use, specially when you are your own guide (which I usually am)- so I am just willing to give some of the help I have received back.

My friend and I are planning a trip starting in El Salvador and hopefully ending in Peru in December/January. We were wondering which is the best way to cross the Panama Colombia border. From what I have been told, bus is out of the question. Both of us are from Mexico and fluent Spanish speakers. Are there any ferries that could take us to Colombia? Would you happen to know any good and cheap airlines that could help us with our trip?
thank you in advance for your help.

Answer Hi Enrique,
There is no safe confirmed way to cross the Colombian border on foot or transport. There was a ferry a few years back but it is no longer in function.
I suggest you take a flight from Cartagena, Cali or Medellin to Panama. You should be able to find rates from 350.00 USD and up.
You can try Avianca and other smaller lines for better rates.
Good luck,
Lorena
