About Lorena Milanes
Expertise
I can answer questions regarding Panama, its people, culture, places to visit, places to watch out for, hotels to stay, how much your taxi fare should be... specific information on getting around on a safe manner.

Experience
I was born and raised in Panama, educated in American schools. Since I enjoy all related to Panama history, I try to keep myself updated on local happenings in the subject. I also enjoy traveling and the internet seems a wonderful tool to use, specially when you are your own guide (which I usually am)- so I am just willing to give some of the help I have received back.

Question
I am thinking of relocating to Panama (from UK) in about 3 years time. My question is really can I work - I am a holistic therapist and naturopath. The main body of my work is in remedial bodywork/massage. I am qualified to teach Massage, Indian Head Massage with antatomy & physiology.  But really I would like to continue working with clients as it is my main love.  Ideally I would prefer to live & work in an area like Volcan but do not know if that would be practical or possible. Any advise or comments would be most appreciated.
On a practical level would look to rent to start off with and then buy later.
Finally will also be qualified in TEFL (teaching english to foreign language speakers) by then - will this capability be of any use?!
Joanna

Answer
Hi Joanna,
Yes, I think you could get a job in the massage industry.
I am not sure of places in Volcan, but nearby in Boquete there is a place called Valle Escondido in which they have a Spa, which I have heard is pretty good (I have not been there myself).
Also since this area is developing so fast, maybe by the time you come to Panama there are more options available in the area.
In regards to teaching, I think you also have good options in this area as it is currently a hot spot for English speaking retirees, which I am sure have time and probably interest in learning the language.
Good luck.
Lorena
