About Lorena Milanes
Expertise
I can answer questions regarding Panama, its people, culture, places to visit, places to watch out for, hotels to stay, how much your taxi fare should be... specific information on getting around on a safe manner.

Experience
I was born and raised in Panama, educated in American schools. Since I enjoy all related to Panama history, I try to keep myself updated on local happenings in the subject. I also enjoy traveling and the internet seems a wonderful tool to use, specially when you are your own guide (which I usually am)- so I am just willing to give some of the help I have received back.

Panama - Driver For Hire in Panama City/Former CZ Area

Question
Lorena:

I am interested in returning to Panama for a week long visit
sometime withing the next few months.
I lived/was based in the former Canal Zone at Albrook AFB back in the mid 60's and am very interested in revisiting an area that I basically fell in love with.
I know my way around for the most part but, with all the changes, I would feel more comfortable travelling with someonw who knows their way around, speaks both excellent English/Spanish (my Spanish is passable but somewhat limited at times).
I am interested in a dedicated driver, basically 8AM to 5PM
daily for approximately 3-5 days.  I will pay approximately 100-150 USD per day PLUS all meals, drinks, gas and fees/tolls associated with travelling around the former CZ and environs of Panama City.
Can you recommend a dedicated driver who would be willing to escort me around on a "journey of rediscovery"?

Many Thanks for any info that you can provide!

Sincerely,

R.D. (Bob) Guthrie

Answer
Hi Bob,
Panama has changed a lot, specially that area, so a driver is a good idea.
It would also be safer, as Panama has changed from a safe country to something very different.
You can contact Amilcar at agonzalez@cwmovil.blackberry.com, they should be able to do the job. (They can also pick you up at the airport)
In case they cannot, just let me know so I can offer other options.
Good luck and let me know if you need help with anything else.
Lorena
